The field of parapsychology, or the study of paranormal phenomena, isn't confined to just ghosts and spooks. It also involves the study of the power of the human mind, the ability of people to see the unseen and move the unmovable, even the visions people get of the world beyond the grave.
Paranormal experts, or parapsychologists, study three broad categories of paranormal phenomena:
• Mental Phenomena – an expert may study the unique mental ability of the human mind. This will include those who can:
• read someone else’s mind or communicate with another (Telepathic)
• perceive spirit beings or entities through intuition (Clairvoyant)
• hear spirits or sounds which have no known source, and which ordinary people can't hear (Clairaudient)
• smell things which have no known source, and which ordinary people can't smell (Clairalient)
• taste things without putting anything into their mouths (Clairgustant)
• intuitively feel or know things or spirit entities (Clairsentient)
• see the future (Precognizant)
• see someone else’s past (Post-cognizant)
• see an object’s history by mere feeling or impression (Psychometric)
• Physical Phenomena – an expert may investigate occurrences caused by an entity or someone’s mental powers. This will include studying:
• people who can make objects move with their mind (psychokinesis)
• poltergeists, or malevolent entities that can move objects and do damage
• people who can set objects on fire with only mind power (pyrokinesis)
• sicknesses or bodily conditions caused by someone’s psychological state (psychogenesis)
• people who are able to communicate with entities, or even be possessed by them to enable direct communication with the living (mediumship)
• Death-related Phenomena – an expert may investigate someone’s out of body or near death experiences.
Paranormal experts are usually out in the field investigating, especially in places known to be high in paranormal activity. Such activity will be high in places where:
• Violent or sudden deaths have occurred, such as battlefields, theaters, or hotels
• People are buried, whether secretly or not, such as cemeteries, churches, and schools
• Important historical events took place
• Miserable people may have lived, such as prisons or hideouts
Paranormal experts are also well equipped with investigative gear such as cameras, thermal scanners, gauges to monitor changes in the electromagnetic field, and voice recorders.
Although working in a field that skeptics regard as taboo and a waste of resources, parapsychologists are interesting to watch in action, and read about after their investigations are done. If you are interested in parapsychology, then consult with a paranormal expert nearest you.
Do you believe in UFOs? There are some theories and testimonies saying that there were images taken, reports, and articles about extraterrestrials. You may be familiar with the famous theory about the government making contact with the UFOs in the 1940s and early 1950s. Reports say that transactions were made regarding an exchange of advances in technology. They allow aliens to make a study about the earth and human beings.
As time went by, reports of sightings and encounters with aliens have increased. Many cases of abduction were reported and there were sources from the government and from the military about this phenomenon. The couple Barney and Betty Hill started the formats on what happened during their captivity and abduction. Because of the attention they received from the media, many people came out claiming similar experiences and stories about UFOs.
These other life forms are said to be flying around with UFOs or Unidentified Flying Objects. There have been reports from all parts of the world. However, there isn't enough physical evidence about their true existence. Some of the reports are suspicious. Most of those who claim about encounters and sightings only suffer from sleeping disorders or insomnia caused hallucinations.
Professor Richard McNally of Harvard University has proven that ten of those who claim that they were abducted by aliens suffer from sleep paralysis. This is a condition wherein a victim awakes immediately from his deep sleep and begins to see paranormal visions and becomes partially conscious about their environment. In this stage, they are still paralyzed and elements of dreaming can prevent the person from being fully awake.
Those who claimed that they have encountered sightings of UFOs refuse to accept the studies conducted by Professor Richard McNally. Those who suffered from the condition and claimed the phenomenon have voiced out their own opinions and possible circumstances about what they have experienced. These theories were concluded that claimers have mistaken the experience with those of UFO abductions and sightings.
For those individuals who are regular victims of sleep paralysis, they still encounter visual hallucination. Others also experience intense fear of being abducted or sexually harassed by aliens. Many researchers still believe that UFOs are just products of people imaginations. Until they are proven true, UFOs will be considered as unreal.
